To round up the Autism Awareness Month, the director of ENNY Foundation, Mr. Emmanuel Ntow Nyarko met with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Lord Our Saviour School in Tema on Sunday 30th April, 2023.

He spoke to the gathering about engaging and interacting more with their wards rather than allowing them more screen time.

He explained to parents that excessive screen time can have a negative impact on a child’s social skills, communication and language development.

Parents asked questions and also discussed ways to engage their children instead of allowing them more than an hour or two of screen time; most parents agreed that whenever children were on the screen, they had more time on their hands to attend to other chores and activities.

A parent spoke up, saying that she took away her child’s phone and has seen the impact on that; her child spends more time interacting with her and helping with chores or just talking with her. She says that she enjoys these moments with her child than the screen days.
